comprehensive counselling

Traditional counselling often focuses on short term goals (day to day issues) and standard therapy often focuses on long term goals (complex emotional issues). Islamic framework offers non-invasive guidance and support. This can help with day to day issues and long term issues that people face. There are many factors impacting a person’s life and Islamic framework provides practical guidance and insight. This help comes without overloading a person with new terminology or isolating them from interacting with others as the guidance that is applicable for them is also applicable for others. With new found confidence a person can better help themselves and even go on to share and help others.

how does this support Muslims and non-Muslims?

Differences in faith

We are not one nation or one religion and we are different to know and recognise one another. Islamic framework exists to respect differences in people and outline the similarities, to recognise and uphold rights of people. A Muslim believes in Allah and that Allah is all knowing and a non-Muslim may believe in a creator or not, but both the Muslim and non-Muslim are not all knowing and there is guidance for how this impacts us and what to be mindful of and how to view and treat one another.

Holistic approach

Islam is concise and comprehensive and provides guidance on the matters that are a cause of sorrow, practical challenges, internal issues and much more. Like a cascading waterfall, Islamic framework is inclusive of people limits in provision and individual resolve. A Muslim would worship Allah and a non-Muslim would not.

morals and ethics

Morality of people and institutions around you will impact you no matter who you are. Help you brother who is oppressed and help your brother who is an oppressor, by stopping him. People have preferences to their personal boundaries but there are matters that people should not do to one another. A person with bad character is like a hostage in their own body. Striving for kindness and refraining from abuse are not the same. People are not forced or pressured to complete acts of kindness but not speaking out against something that is an injustice is not good for the person receiving the injustice and not good for the person committing the injustice.

prayer?

A Muslim will worship Allah and have a growing love for Allah, the religion of Islam and the people that are Muslim. A non-Muslim does not worship Allah, they can study the Qur’an and speak to Muslims but they do not have to do this. Both have family, everyone has biological parents and people have connections and desires. The practical knowledge and insights into people that are preserved and provided through Islam can help both the Muslim and the non-Muslim. Just as people of many faiths and backgrounds entered into treaties with the Muslims after the battle of Tabuk (against Romans).

One off sessions or series of sessions

All sessions will be treated as one off sessions unless contact is made to specify a criteria for a series of sessions. When this has been approved a case folder can be maintained for the client.

A criteria for a series of sessions can be:

  • the number of sessions (example 7 sessions)
  • a length of time (example 3 months)
  • personal circumstance (example until completion of a medical treatment for a family member)

Contact will be made before series sessions to confirm needs and collect payment.

Classes

Interactive and responsive classes. Each class focuses on a particular topic and presents the view through a lens with Islamic framework. Learning points are simple easy to follow. Presentations are not exclusionary to faith, background or Islamic knowledge.

Classes are not group sessions although participation is encouraged and the service is designed to listen and help develop understanding. No participant will be forced or pressured to share their thoughts.

The class dialogue remains in the chat function to encourage people to share their thoughts. Messages can be responded to even if at any instance multiple messages are sent through because they will remain visible and not forgotten. Participant numbers are kept low at maximum of 10 attendees. This is to avoid overwhelming the incoming messages.

Depending on the class topic, messages can be placed in the meeting chat or sent through WhatsApp during the class and up to 1 week after the start of the class.

Classes are interactive but do not follow a workshop style format. Workshops are often broken into several tasks to achieve participation. There is not pressure or requirement for some performance from participants.

All classes will be made available three times on the day that it is hosted to allow for different schedules or times zones.

Classes can be viewed on the booking page which will convert UK times to your local time.
